10 Years of Jokowi, The Existence of the Mandalika Circuit is Proof of Even Development

Central Lombok, Todaysgist.com – During President Joko Widodo’s decade-long leadership, infrastructure development has become one of the government’s top priorities. Under Jokowi’s direction, Indonesia has experienced equitable development that is no longer centered on Java Island, but rather spread to eastern Indonesia. One of the monumental projects that reflects this success is the Mandalika Circuit in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

The Mandalika Circuit, which is now widely known for its MotoGP racing event and various other international activities, has rapidly developed into a leading tourist destination and a symbol of Indonesian sports tourism.

“The construction of the Mandalika Circuit not only has a positive impact on infrastructure development in NTB, but is also a major driver for economic growth, tourism, and local culture,” said Chairman of Indonesia MotoGP 2024 Troy Waroka, on Thursday (19/9/2024).

Waroka emphasized that during President Jokowi’s 10 years of leadership, Indonesia has experienced significant progress in terms of equitable development, especially outside Java.

“This is a clear progress. Not only in Mandalika, but also in various other areas. We appreciate the government’s efforts in accelerating development in areas that have been less accessible,” said Waroka.

He added that the success of development in Mandalika was not only limited to the circuit infrastructure.

“The Mandalika Circuit is just a medium, but how this medium is utilized to drive economic, cultural and tourism growth is the most important thing. Mandalika has proven itself as a destination sports tourism “The first in Indonesia to be recognized globally,” continued Waroka.

The construction of the Mandalika Circuit has a very significant impact, not only for NTB but also for Indonesia as a whole. Waroka explained that this circuit has become a major driver for local economic growth, especially in the tourism and MSME sectors.

“The impact is not only felt at the national level, but also internationally. The MotoGP and World Superbike events held in Mandalika attract the world’s attention, bring thousands of tourists, and create new economic opportunities for local communities,” he explained.

In addition, Waroka highlighted how Mandalika has played a role in improving the quality of local human resources (HR).

“The government is not only building physical infrastructure, but also strengthening the quality of human resources in NTB. Training and skills development programs for local communities have helped improve their competitiveness in the tourism and hospitality sectors,” he added.

Mandalika’s success as a destination sports tourism cannot be separated from the full support of the central government, especially under the leadership of President Jokowi. According to Waroka, Mandalika is one of the best examples of how targeted infrastructure development can provide a sustainable impact on the national economy.

“We give our highest appreciation to President Joko Widodo for his commitment in developing Mandalika and leaving an extraordinary legacy for the people of Indonesia,” he said.

Waroka is optimistic that the Mandalika Circuit will continue to provide economic and social benefits to Indonesia, even after President Jokowi’s term ends. He hopes that Mandalika can continue to develop as a world-class tourism center and improve the quality of local human resources.
