12.12: The Day Chosen as Korea’s Entrant to the 2025 Oscars, One of the Highest-Grossing Films in History in Its Country
Todaysgist.com, Jakarta South Korea has decided on their representatives to be sent to the 2025 Oscars, namely 12.12: The Day. Reported by Yonhap News and Celeb Confirmed, Thursday (5/9/2024), This was conveyed by the Korean Film Council (Kofic), which every year selects one Korean film to be submitted to the Academy Awards for the International Feature Film category.
It was also stated that in this selection, all the judges in Kofic unanimously chose the film starring Hwang Jung Min, Jung Woo Sung, and Lee Sung Min.
“The dramatic pleasure delivered through the film’s tension, the director’s ability to enhance the mise-en-scène of the actors’ extraordinary performances, and the extraordinary historical insight all come together so seamlessly that there is little room to disagree that this is a complete film,” said one member of the jury.
Added, “We hope that the film’s depiction of the illusion behind charisma and satire of evil will resonate as a timely metaphor in its thematic aspects, and ultimately attract the attention of the Academy Awards.”
Film 12.12: The Day itself attracted great attention from the Korean public after being released on November 22, 2023.
