12 BRI League 1 Players Strengthen Indonesian National Team in World Cup Qualifiers

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The Indonesian National Football Team played in the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in the Asian Zone against Saudi Arabia. The match took place at King Abdullah Sports City, Jeddah, Thursday (5/9/2024) local time or Friday (6/9/2024) early morning at 01.00 WIB. In the match, the Indonesian National Team was able to hold Saudi Arabia to a 1-1 draw.

In the World Cup qualifiers, coach Shin Tae-yong has called up 12 players from BRI Liga 1 to join the Garuda squad. These players were selected based on their impressive performances in the domestic league supported by BRI as the main sponsor of Liga 1.

The twelve players are Ramadhan Sananta from Persis Solo, Dimas Drajad from Persib Bandung, Hokky Caraka from PSS Sleman, Ricky Kambuaya and Egy Maulana from Dewa United. In addition, there are Witan Sulaeman, Rizky Ridho and Muhammad Ferarri from Persija Jakarta, Wahyu Prasetyo from Malut United, Ernando Ari from Persebaya Surabaya, Adi Satryo from PSIS Semarang and Nadeo Arga Winata from Borneo FC.

As the party trusted as the main sponsor of the BRI Liga 1 competition for the last four consecutive seasons, BRI also appreciates the calling of the 12 players to join the Indonesian national football team. The increasing quality of the Indonesian Liga 1 is inseparable from the support of BRI as the main sponsor/ title sponsor of the country’s top league.

On a separate occasion, BRI President Director Sunarso revealed that BRI’s support for the League is in line with the company’s goal of creating social value by becoming a sponsor of BRI Liga 1.

“With the rolling of BRI Liga 1, we hope that it will make it easier for PSSI to select Indonesian National Team players so that they can raise Indonesia’s achievements on the global stage,” added Sunarso.

BRI itself has been the main sponsor of BRI Liga 1 for four consecutive seasons, starting from the 2021-2022 season, continuing in the 2022-2023, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 seasons.

PSSI General Chairman Erick Thohir appreciated BRI’s commitment to becoming the main sponsor of Liga 1 for the fourth consecutive year.

“The first time BRI became a sponsor of Liga 1 during Covid-19. Football leagues around the world stopped, but BRI dared to take the position that football in Indonesia should not die,” he said at the BRI Liga 1 Press Conference (7/8/2024).

Erick hopes that the 2024-2025 BRI Liga 1 season will further elevate Indonesian football as a whole, which has become a topic of conversation at the Asian level.
