19 points different from Jorge Martin, Francesco Bagnaia remains optimistic

Bagnaia will face a crucial race in the closing series of the Solidarity GP at the Catalunya Circuit, Barcelona, ​​on Sunday (17/11/2024). Bagnaia is now 19 points behind Jorge Martin, who occupies first place in the standings.

“We have done what we should do, but chasing 19 points remains a big challenge. We will try our best, and whatever the result, I will still enjoy this weekend on the track,” said Bagnaia in his official statement on Sunday (17/11/ 2024).

Pecco, nicknamed Francesco Bagnaia, showed impressive performance in the qualifying session and sprint session. He managed to be the fastest in qualifying, ensuring the start from pole position for the main race.

In the sprint session, the Italian racer finished as champion with a time of 20 minutes 3.173 seconds. Second place is occupied by another Ducati racer, Enea Bastianini, who is +0.942 seconds adrift, while Jorge Martin, Bagnaia’s main competitor in the race for the title, had to settle for being on the third podium with a difference of +1.270 seconds.

“This result is very important to immediately reclaim leading position, and we succeeded in doing it. I believe we have to repeat a similar performance in the main race,” said Bagnaia.

Currently, Jorge Martin still leads the standings with 492 points, while Bagnaia is in second place with 473 points, 19 points adrift of the final race of the season.

The final MotoGP race this season should be held in Valencia. However, because the city was hit by floods, the race was moved to Barcelona and will be held at the Montmelo Circuit.
