2 Indonesian Mixed Doubles Collapsed in the Round of 16

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The journey of two Indonesian mixed doubles pairs, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari and Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, had to stop in the last 16 of the Kumamoto Masters 2024 in Japan, Thursday (14/11/2024).

Playing at the Kumamoto Prefectural Gymnasium, the seventh seeded pair, Rinov/Pitha, lost in a three-game battle against the Malaysian pair, Hoo Pang Ron/Cheng Su Yin, with a score of 21-18, 22-24 and 10-21.

“In this match I admit that I didn’t perform optimally. This defeat, I think, was caused more by factors than me. “Even in the third game, I couldn’t show my best performance,” said Pitha, in PP PBSI’s official statement.

Even though they lost, Rinov/Pitha are still grateful for their achievements this year.

“We remain grateful for what we have gone through and achieved this year. “For next year, we still don’t know what it will be like,” said Rinov.

Meanwhile, the Rehan/Lisa pair had to admit the superiority of the Japanese representatives, Hiroki Midorikawa/Natsu Saito, with a score of 17-21, 7-21 in a match of two straight games in the round of 16 of the BWF Super 500 tournament.

To date, women’s singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung is the only Indonesian representative who has successfully advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2024 Kumamoto Masters.

Apart from that, there are still several Indonesian representatives who will compete today, such as men’s singles Jonatan Christie and men’s doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.
