31 Players Including Marselino Ferdinand Called to Strengthen the Indonesian National Team

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – PSSI has summoned 31 players including Marselino Ferdinan to take part in preparations for the 2024 AFF Cup. These preparations begin with a training camp which will be held in Bali from 26 November to 5 December.

As previously reported, PSSI prioritizes young players, including members of the U-22 National Team, to appear in the biennial tournament between Southeast Asian countries.

Apart from that, several players who had careers in Europe were also called up, such as Justin Hubner, Ivar Jenner and Marselino Ferdinand. However, their presence cannot be confirmed because the AFF Cup is not part of the official FIFA calendar, so their respective clubs are not obliged to release them.

The Indonesian national team coached by Shin Tae-yong also called up a number of other players who play abroad, including Asnawi Mangkualam, Pratama Arhan, Rafael Struick and Ronaldo Kwateh ahead of the 2024 AFF Cup.

The 2024 AFF Cup tournament, which is officially called the Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024, participants are divided into two groups. Indonesia is in group B with Vietnam, the Philippines, Myanmar and Laos. Meanwhile in group A there are Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia and Timor Leste.

The Garuda team will start its struggle in the group phase on December 9 2024 by visiting Myanmar headquarters. Next, Indonesia will host Laos on December 12 2024, visit Vietnam on December 15 2024, and close the group phase by hosting the Philippines on December 21 2024.
