43 Countries Meet in East Kalimantan to Prevent Extreme Climate Change
The World Bank's Lead Environmental Specialist Franka Braun explained that SSKE combines the three largest tropical rainforest countries, as well as being a platform for policy makers, experts and the public.
“The World Bank also brings together the global community. In this platform we try to overcome the problems faced by tropical rainforest countries,” he explained.
Franka expressed her appreciation to the Indonesian Government, especially the East Kalimantan Provincial Government for all the performance that has been contributed to saving the earth and the world.
“The East Kalimantan Provincial Government has made a lot of progress, such as managing forests from deforestation and reducing carbon emissions. This is in the common interest of maintaining progress and good steps,” he said on behalf of the World Bank.
No less important, East Kalimantan together with five other regional governments are at the forefront of protecting forests and ensuring that people whose lives depend on forests can prosper.
“This forum is a partnership forum to gain global attention and the private sector must be involved in maintaining this ecosystem. Also to boost the image of overcoming problems, mobilizing financing, technology and finding joint solutions,” Franka stressed.
