5 Indonesian Representatives Fail to Advance to the Main Round of the Men’s World Men’s Tennis Championship

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Five Indonesian tennis athletes failed to advance to the main round of the 2024 Men’s World Men’s Tennis Championship.

In the match held at the Bali National Tennis Center field in the ITDC Nusa Dua tourist area, Bali, Monday (26/8/2024), Renaldi Aqila Afriadli Salaim who appeared in the first match faced Lorenzo Lorusso. Renaldi failed to defeat the second seed from Italy and was forced to surrender 3-6, 2-6.

A similar failure also befell another host representative, Tegar Abdi Satrio Wibowo, who had to admit the toughness of Arjun Mehrotra from Australia with a score of 1-6, 3-6.

Meanwhile, the struggle of senior Indonesian tennis player David Agung Susanto, finally also had to be ended by Felix Mischker. Playing under the condition of his left ankle injury, David was not able to perform optimally and was forced to lose in two straight sets 3-6, 3-6. Although he failed in the men’s singles, the father of one daughter still has the opportunity to perform better in the doubles with his younger brother, Anthony Susanto.

Another host representative who failed to progress further in the qualifying round of the 2024 Amman Mineral Men’s World Men’s Tennis Championship was Nyoman Suma Indrawan.

Facing Yu Bingyu, the tennis player from Bali suffered a 3-6, 2-6 defeat from the third seed from China.

Despite failing to achieve higher achievements, Indrawan, who works as a lecturer at Undiksha Bali, admitted that he was proud to be able to compete for the first time in an international event, as well as preparation before appearing at the Aceh-North Sumatra PON event.

In the final match of the qualifying round at Nusa Dua Court, Indonesia again failed to place a representative after Lucky Chandra Kurniawan was forced to surrender in two straight sets by Vietnamese tennis player Vu Han Minh Duc 6-2, 6-0.

Despite failing to add representatives to play further in the next round, the host Indonesia still has a chance in the singles in the main round. Indonesia’s best tennis players Muhamad Rifqi Fitriadi, Nathan Barki, and Anthony Susanto will only start their first matches on Tuesday and Wednesday.
