6 Firm Steps by the Minister of Communication and Information to Eradicate Online Gambling

The Ministry of Communication and Information has issued an audit order against PSEs that have the potential to be used for online gambling activities with the threat of revoking the PSE list they have.

In fact, Kominfo has cut off access to 32 unauthorized sites that use credit for online gambling.

“If the electronic system does not follow up on this order, then Kominfo will revoke the PSE registration certificate,” Budi Arie emphasized.

The Minister of Communication and Information claimed that the work of the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force has been good and focused. One of the indicators is that it has succeeded in holding back the acceleration of online gambling transactions.

“We ask for cooperation from Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to strictly supervise the payment systems commonly used for online gambling,” he said.

Minister Budi Arie emphasized the Ministry of Communication and Information’s commitment to handling online gambling seriously without discrimination.

“The Online Gambling Eradication Task Force continues to be progressive and aggressive in eradicating online gambling. Currently, the task force is focused on bookies, not players,” he concluded.
