Ad Hoc Team Too Short Cause Badminton Failed to Win Gold at Paris 2024 Olympics

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – The newly elected General Chair of the Central Board of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI), Fadil Imran, assessed that the failure of the Red and White team to win a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics was due to the formation of the team. ad hoc which is too short.

Fadil Imran was elected by acclamation at the PP PBSI National Conference (Munas) at the Empire Palace Surabaya, Saturday (10/8/2021). The Munas resulted in a number of decisions including the election of Fadil Imran, elected by acclamation as the general chairman of PP PBSI for the 2024-2028 period, replacing Agung Firman Sampurna.

In the plenary session held at this year’s National Conference, only Fadil Imran’s name emerged as the sole candidate for general chairman of PP PBSI.

Of the 38 provincial governments that participated in the National Conference, 34 of them expressed their support for Fadil Imran, so the meeting leader decided that he was elected by acclamation.

After being elected as PBSI chairman, Fadil Imran emphasized that he would evaluate Indonesia’s badminton results, especially at the 2024 Paris Olympics where it failed to win gold.

Fadil assessed that the failure to win gold was due to the timing of the team formation. ad hoc consisting of former badminton players who won previous Olympic gold medals to become player mentors is too short. So that the players’ mentality is lacking when competing. Welcoming the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, Fadil will form an Olympic Task Force starting this year.

To face the Los Angeles Olympics, from now on I will form an Olympic Task Force, namely a team ad hoc which I have formed starting from professionals, athletes, olympianand mentors, because this Olympiad has different characteristics,” explained Fadil Imran, Saturday (10/8/2024).

Meanwhile, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo stated that his party will evaluate the failure of badminton to win a gold medal at this year’s Olympics, by providing assistance to modernize the Cipayung National Training Center, in accordance with PBSI’s plan.

The government is acknowledged to support the improvement of facilities and infrastructure for badminton human resources by sports science And sports performance.

“We will modernize the Cipayung National Training Center starting from the facilities and infrastructure as well as its human resources, with sports science And sports performance” said Dito Ariotedjo firmly.

The Minister of Youth and Sports hopes that after becoming the new chairman of PP PBSI, Fadil Imran can bring about change and Indonesian badminton will once again be successful on the world stage.
