Ahead of Appearance in England, Indonesian Kart Driver Qarrar Firhand Steals Attention
Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Young Indonesian racer Qarrar Firhand Ali has become the center of attention among European and international karting and racing communities ahead of his debut in England. Qarrar, who has lived in Brescia, Italy for the past three years, is now starting to gain respect in international karting.
Since early 2024, Qarrar has participated in championships in Spain, Portugal, France and Slovakia. He managed to show satisfactory results in the junior class.
At the Champions of the Future (COTF) Euro Series Championship at the Paul Fletcher International (PFI) Circuit, Lincolnshire, England, last weekend, Qarrar Firhand performed impressively from the preliminary round until finally becoming the best.
Two other Parolin Motorsport drivers, Christian Costoya from Spain and Zac Drummond from Scotland, had performed convincingly from qualifying to the preliminary round. However, both were forced to withdraw due to technical difficulties. This situation opened up an opportunity for Qarrar to excel in the Junior class final.
The final round in England was very competitive, especially the high-intensity fourth round. Parolin Motorsport Team performed solidly in both categories, as they prepare for the fifth round of the FIA Karting World Championship which will be held this weekend on the same track.
Changeable weather conditions, with heavy rain on Saturday and a dry track on Sunday, added to the challenges of racing at the PFI Circuit. In the OK class, Brazilian rider Gabriel Koenigkan and American rider Vivek Kanthan showed good results during qualifying.
Zac Drummond finished 7th out of 101 entrants, with one win and a pair of top-four finishes, although he failed to make the final after two retirements in the Super Heat. Meanwhile, Christian Costoya made a good start by finishing 9th out of 114 entrants in qualifying practice and took a win in the heats before being involved in an incident in the superheat who ended his struggle in the final.
Qarrar Firhand consistently performed in the top 10 throughout the preliminary round, securing 21st place in the final out of a total of 114 participants. “It feels great to be able to make my debut on this circuit, but it does require extra hard work,” said Qarrar, son of Firhand Ali and Aimma Fatima in his statement, Friday (13/9/2024).
Parolin Motorsport boss Marco Parolin praised Qarrar’s improvements even though the team still has to find technical solutions before the World Championship.
“PFI is a challenging track, especially with the wet conditions on Saturday. Many of our riders performed quite well, but we are not completely satisfied. Qarrar continues to show significant progress,” said Marco Parolin.
