Ahead of the match against West Ham, Erik Ten Hag admits to being a fan of David Moyes

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag admits he has admired West Ham coach David Moyes for a long time. This statement was made by ten Hag ahead of the clash between the two teams on Sunday (7/5/2023) or early Sunday WIB.

It is known, David Moyes himself is the manager of Manchester United who replaced Sir Alex Ferguson. In fact, it was the legendary MU coach who appointed his compatriot directly as his replacement, which made Moyes often nicknamed “The Chosen One”.

Unfortunately, The Red Devils slumped with Moyes. He failed to pass on the baton from Sir Alex, who had actually built MU into one of the best teams in England and was respected in Europe and the world.

However, Ten Hag admitted that what Moyes did was not too bad.

“It’s pretty clear when you have to replace Sir Alex it’s a big challenge and it’s a very difficult job to do,” Ten Hag told his pre-match press conference.

“So, yeah, he did it, he had the guts to do it, so that’s why I think I admire him a lot. He’s also been with a lot of clubs in the Premier League for a long time, so he’s a great manager with a lot of skills.”

Facing West Ham, Manhcester United needed a win to avoid being chased by their eternal rivals, Liverpool, who continued to stalk from fifth place. Liverpool closed their distance with United after a narrow 1-0 win over Brentford.

“I know my team has to be at its best on Sunday. We had to give our all if we were to get the result we needed, and that was a win. I tell them for every game, for every training – you have to be ready for every game in the Premier League,” said the former Ajax Amsterdam manager.

“If you want to be in all four competitions you have to prepare very well. You can’t do it 99 per cent, you have to do it 100 per cent and you have to do it for the full 95 minutes.”
