All Athletes Participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics Get Bonuses from the Government

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo said that the government will provide bonuses to all Indonesian athletes participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The bonuses are given as appreciation from the government for representing the country.

Dito said that athletes who have fought to bring glory to Indonesia’s name at the Olympics will also receive bonuses, so it is not only medal winners who will receive this appreciation.

“For all athletes and coaches who do not receive medals, as a form of appreciation and commitment from the government in the Olympics, we will also give bonuses. The bonuses will be announced soon, as a form of appreciation,” said Dito, Wednesday (14/8/2024).

Dito further said, for the three medal-winning athletes, namely Veddriq Leonardo, Rizki Juniansyah, and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, the bonus value has been determined based on the direction of President Joko Widodo.

Rock climber Veddriq and lifter Rizki Juniansyah will receive cash bonuses worth Rp 6 billion each from the government. Both won gold.

“For gold medal winners, President Jokowi has announced that athletes will receive Rp 6 billion, while coaches of gold medal winners will receive Rp 2.75 billion,” said Dito.

The amount is greater than the gold medal bonus given at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which was IDR 5.5 billion for athletes and IDR 2.5 billion for coaches.

Women’s badminton player Gregoria who won bronze will be showered with a bonus of Rp1.65 billion and her coach will also receive a bonus of Rp675 million. This figure is more than the bonus given to athletes who won bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. At that time, they received Rp1.5 billion for athletes and Rp600 million for coaches.

Two 2024 Olympic gold medalists, Veddriq and Rizki, arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Banten, on Tuesday (13/8/2024) early morning WIB, along with a number of other Olympic participants, such as rock climbers Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, Rajiah Sallsabillah, and Rahmad Adi Mulyono, as well as weightlifter Nurul Akmal.
The athletes were also accompanied by the Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Contingent for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Anindya Bakrie.

All the entourage were welcomed by Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo and International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member Erick Thohir.
Before returning to Indonesia, Rizki and Veddriq represented Indonesia by performing at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Monday (12/8/2024) early morning WIB.

Rizki Juniansyah, as the second gold medalist, and the first Indonesian weightlifter to climb to the highest podium at the Olympics, became the flag bearer in the closing ceremony parade.

Veddriq Leonardo also joined the Red and White contingent consisting of 15 people including two representatives of CdM Arkan Lukman and Zaenal Asikin, Chairperson of the Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation (PB FPTI) Yenny Wahid, rock climbing coach Triyanto Budi Santosa, weightlifting coach Triyatno, and fellow athletes Nurul Akmal, Rahmad Adi Mulyono, Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi and Rajiah Sallsabillah.
