Already Approved by Commission III and X, Naturalization of Eliano Reijnders and Mees Hilgers Brought to DPR Plenary Session

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – The naturalization process of two players of Eliano Reijnders and Mees Hilgers descent will soon be determined and ratified in a plenary meeting of the DPR in the near future. This ratification was carried out after the naturalization of the two players received approval from Commission III and Commission X of the DPR on Tuesday (17/9/2024) at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta.

“Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives has decided to approve the citizenship recommendation for Eliano Reijnders and Mees Hilgers, with the note that the determination of Indonesian citizenship is determined by the authorized agency based on the provisions of applicable laws and regulations. Furthermore, today’s working meeting will be submitted to the Plenary Meeting of the Indonesian House of Representatives for a decision to be taken,” said Deputy Chairperson of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Hetifah Sjaifudian while leading the working meeting for the approval of the naturalization of Eliano Reijnders and Mees Hilgers.

The working meeting was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo, Secretary General of PSSI Yunus Nusi and member of the PSSI Executive Committee Vivin Cahyani Sungkono. Eliano Reijnders also attended the working meeting via zoom.

Hetifah hopes that PSSI in the future will also continue to pay attention to notes or input from members of Commission X of the DPR. One of them is so that in the future Indonesian football development will continue to be focused so that the regeneration of quality footballers will emerge from the results of the development.

“Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives encourages the Government and PSSI to pay attention to all notes and recommendations submitted by the leadership and members of Commission X at today’s working meeting as a step to build sports achievements, especially national football,” added Hetifah.

On that occasion, Menpora Dito Ariotedjo expressed his gratitude to Commission III and X of the DPR who had given their approval to continue the naturalization process of the two players. He hopes that Eliano and Mees Hilgers can also strengthen the Garuda squad when Indonesia plays away to Bahrain and China’s headquarters in October.

“Yes, this is our first appreciation for the fast response from all DPR leaders, from commissions III and X. We finish today and we are successful in completing it in the DPR, we return it to the State Secretary. I am optimistic (strengthening the Indonesian National Team) if the granting of citizenship is fast. PSSI has a target of being played in October, hopefully the process will be fast,” said Dito.

In line with Dito, PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi admitted to being grateful for the approval of the naturalization process recommendation given by Commission III and Commission X to Mess Hilgers and Eliano Reijnders.

“On behalf of the PSSI general chairman (Erick Thohir), we would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to Commission X and Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives who have provided recommendations for the naturalization process given to Mess Hilgers and Eliano Reijnders, of course, support for the progress of Indonesian football. Hopefully in the near future they can debut with the Indonesian national team,” said Yunus Nusi.

After this, the naturalization process continued to the DPR plenary meeting, and the issuance of a presidential decree (Keppres). From there, the final stage was taking the oath of citizenship by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham). After becoming Indonesian citizens (WNI), the two players moved federations.

The Indonesian national team will soon undergo two third round matches of Group C of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in October. The Garuda squad will travel to Bahrain (October 10) and China (October 15).
