Liputan6.com, Jakarta The U-22 Indonesian National Team will continue their struggle against Timor Leste in the third match of Group A for the 2023 SEA Games football at the Olympic Stadium, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Sunday (7/5/2023) starting at 16.00 WIB. This duel can pave the way for Indonesia to advance to the 2023 SEA Games football semifinals.

From the meeting record, Indonesia has never lost to Timor Leste. Indonesia is still superior to the country in the east of East Nusa Tenggara.

Even so, Timor Leste football has continued to grow in recent years. One of Timor Leste’s efforts to improve their football is by bringing in a coach from South Korea, Park Soon Tae.

Park Soon Tae’s influence is quite good. At least, Timor Leste can bag one win out of three matches in group A for the 2023 SEA Games football. Timor Leste won a convincing victory over the Philippines with a score of 3-0.

Timor Leste’s three goals were scored by Mouzinho, Figo and Mesquita. Timor Leste is believed to be trying to win in order to maintain opportunities or at least balance Indonesia.

The coach of the U-22 Indonesian National Team, Indra Sjafri, also asked his troops not to be arrogant against Timor Leste.

“All the players are ready to face Timor Leste. They are all fit, no one is injured, and will give their best game tomorrow,” said Indra Sjafri.

“Even so, we want the players not to underestimate Timor Leste. All players must be vigilant and not provoked, moreover we see that their current playing style is better,” added the man who is also the Technical Director of PSSI.
