Amad Diallo’s goal revives the ‘Red Devils’

Manchester, Beritasatu.com – Manchester United (MU) finally achieved their first win in the Europa League after beating PAOK with a score of 2-0 at Old Trafford Stadium, Manchester, Friday (8/11/2024) early morning WIB. Amad Diallo scored two MU goals in the second half.

This result ended MU’s unsatisfactory results in the Europa League, after previously drawing in three matches against Twente, Porto and Fenerbahce.

With this victory, MU rose to 15th place in the Europa League standings with six points from four matches, while PAOK is in 32nd position with one point.

MU appeared dominant in this match with 53% ball control and took 16 shots, four of which were aimed at PAOK’s goal. However, it was not easy for the “Red Devils” to win.

PAOK created an early opportunity through Mady Camara’s kick which narrowly missed the side of the MU goal. MU responded to this threat with Rasmus Hojlund’s header welcoming Manuel Ugarte’s cross which PAOK goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski was able to secure.

PAOK’s threat came again through Andrija Zivkovic’s long-range shot. However, goalkeeper Andre Onana managed to secure this opportunity. Onana made another save by blocking Camara’s kick.

Entering the second half, MU took the initiative to attack. The deadlock was broken in the 50th minute when Bruno Fernandes’ cross was met with a header by Amad Diallo. Score 1-0 for MU. PAOK almost equalized when Zivkovic kicked a shot in the MU penalty box. Luckily the ball was still wide of the goal.

Diallo almost scored the second goal after receiving a mature pass from Fernandes. Unfortunately, Kotarski managed to save his kick. Both teams take turns attacking. PAOK almost scored a goal when Tarik Tissoudali, who was free in the penalty box, shot towards the MU goal, but Onana saved the ball again.

Amidst PAOK’s pressure, MU doubled their lead in the 77th minute through Diallo who managed to steal the ball from Abdul Rahman Baba and score the second goal. MU managed to maintain a 2-0 lead until the match ended.
