Apri/Fadia Fall, Indonesia Only Relies on Fajar/Rian in the Doubles Sector at the 2024 Paris Olympics

Paris, Todaysgist.com – Indonesian women’s doubles Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti suffered defeat in the final group phase match of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Tuesday (30/7/2024).

Apri/Fadia lost to Malaysian representatives Tan Pearly/Thinaah Muralitharan in two straight games 18-21, 9-21 in the match held at Porte De La Chapelle Arena. Thus, Apri/Fadia’s progress was stopped in the series of the world’s biggest sporting event after being ranked last in group A and not collecting a single win.

“Of course I’m sad, sad and disappointed because I lost all three matches, but I’m grateful to be able to go to the Olympics. I will continue to process for the future,” said Fadia, quoted from a brief statement from the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI/NOC Indonesia), Tuesday.

Apri, who has already won a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, admitted that he appeared in Paris with a new spirit. “So (the Tokyo Olympics gold) yesterday, it motivated me, it was an extraordinary achievement for me. We are indeed very sad today, disappointed today too, we also learned a lot of lessons for the future,” he added.

In badminton, Indonesia has only qualified one representative to the main round of the 2024 Paris Olympics, namely the men’s doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

Indonesia still has several opportunities, namely from men’s singles Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, and women’s singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.
