Arne Slot Cannot Confirm Mohamed Salah’s Contract Extension

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Liverpool coach, Arne Slot, has not been able to provide certainty regarding the contract extension of Mohamed Salah, the mainstay wing striker who has scored 15 goals and 12 assists this season.

“It’s hard for me to predict what will happen in the future. However, what is clear, he is currently in the right place. He plays for a great team, which gives him many opportunities to do extraordinary things,” said Slot via the Premier League page, Thursday (5/12/2024).

It is known that Salah’s contract will expire on June 30 2025. However, until now there has been no indication that the contract will be extended.

If Liverpool do not immediately take steps to extend his contract, Salah will be free to negotiate with other clubs starting January 2025 according to the Bosman Rules, or six months before his contract ends.

If this situation continues, Salah, who has been in Liverpool uniform since 2017, could leave the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2025.

This could certainly be detrimental to Liverpool, considering Salah’s extraordinary performance in the 2024-2025 season. The additional two goals brought his total contribution this season to 15 goals and 12 assists in all competitions. In the Premier League, Salah has scored 13 goals and eight assistsmaking him the temporary top scorer, surpassing Manchester City’s Erling Haaland who scored 12 goals.

Apart from that, Salah is now one of three players who have scored goals in seven consecutive matches in the Premier League, equaling the record previously held by Ruud van Nistelrooy and Jamie Vardy. Vardy’s record as the player with the most goals in the Premier League still stands at 11 consecutive matches.

Even more impressive, Salah’s two goals against Newcastle made him the first player to record at least one goal and one assist in 37 Premier League games, breaking Wayne Rooney’s previous record of 36 games.
