Arsenal Lead 2-1 Over Man City, Trossard Red Carded
Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Arsenal temporarily led 2-1 over Manchester City (Man City) in the first half of the fifth week of the Premier League match, Sunday (22/9/2024) at the Etihad Stadium.
Man City took the lead early on thanks to a goal from Erling Haaland. However, Arsenal managed to turn things around thanks to a strike from Riccardo Calafiori and a header from Gabriel Magalhaes.
It was Haaland‘s 10th goal in five games, but Arsenal were reduced to 10 men after Leandro Trossard was sent off late in the first half.
A chance for Man City occurred in the seventh minute. It started from a pass from Bernardo Silva from the right side that was successfully received by Ilkay Gundogan. The German midfielder then controlled the ball and released a shot, but it went wide.
Man City scored in the ninth minute. Haaland, who was already in front, managed to receive a pass from Savinho. The Norwegian striker managed to get past Arsenal defender Gabriel Magelhaes and unleashed a left-footed shot that beat goalkeeper David Raya.
Man City actually had a chance in the 14th minute. Ilkay Gundogan took a free kick after a foul outside the penalty box. He unleashed a right-footed shot that hit the post and saved Arsenal from conceding a second goal.
The game was stopped in the 16th minute after home midfielder Rodrigo was injured. He suffered the injury after a collision with Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber.

Arsenal managed to equalize in the 22nd minute. The goal was scored by defender Calafiori. The goal scored by Arsenal’s left back started from a counterattack by Gabriel Martineli.

In the 37th minute, Arsenal almost scored. Taking advantage of a corner sent by Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Magalhaes headed the ball. However, his header went just over the goal.
In the 41st minute, Arsenal got a chance. Following a counterattack. Kai Havertz then sent a pass from the left side. The ball was then greeted by Leandro Trossard with a right-footed kick. However, his kick did not find the target.
Arsenal turned the score around to 2-1 thanks to Gabriel Magalhaes’ goal in the 45+1 minute. The Brazilian defender scored the winner against the home side with a header from a corner sent by Bukayo Saka.
In stoppage time, Arsenal striker Lendro Trossard was sent off for a second yellow card after fouling Bernardo Silva. Arsenal were reduced to 10 men at the end of the first half.
The score of 2-1 for Arsenal’s advantage lasted until referee Michael Oliver blew the long whistle to signal the end of the first half.
