THE Avalanchea Layer 1 blockchain focused on applications, announced on Monday (16) the implementation of the update Avalanche9000considered the largest ever held on the network. The novelty brings significant improvements for developing subnets and makes it cheaper to run smart contracts.

The Avalanche team stated on X (formerly Twitter) that the update reduces Layer 1 blockchain deployment costs by 99.9%. This will enable a significant increase in the number of launches in the coming months. Currently, the network supports more than 500 Layer 1 blockchains.

Among the highlights of the update are the improvement proposals ACP-77 and ACP-125. ACP-77 changes the way validators operate. Meanwhile, ACP-125 reduces the base rate of C-chainAvalanche’s flagship smart contract network, 25 nAVAX for 1 nAVAXthe equivalent of $0.00000004.

According to the development team, the previous base cost was above market demand, which limited the use of the network. With the reduction, an increase in the efficiency and use of the C-chain is expected.

Avalanche9000 also changes the validation model. Previously, validators needed to validate mainnet and stake at least 2,000 AVAX tokens (about $100,000) to participate. Now, validators can only validate specific subnets, reducing costs and hardware requirements.

This change, called an upgrade “Etna”, allows the development of personalized blockchains with dedicated validators and independence from the mainnet. Furthermore, it enables subnets to meet different regulatory and legal requirements.

Subnets in Avalanche work like groups of nodes that validate sovereign blockchain transactions. Similar to other blockchain-as-a-service solutions, subnets can have different configurations for different use cases, including defining their own tokenomics.

Prior to the launch of Avalanche9000, there was a testnet in November, which offered more than $40 million in retroactive rewards for developers. Last week, the Avalanche Foundation raised US$250 million in a token sale led by Galaxy Digital, Dragonfly and ParaFi Capital to fund the upgrade implementation.

After the official announcement of the update launch, the token AVAX12th largest in market value, presented a slight appreciation on the day. According to data from CoinGecko, in the last 24 hours, the token’s price has jumped about 3.0% to the current price of US$50.15.
