Itaú announced this Tuesday, 03, that it plans to release, in 2025, the transfer of Bitcoin and Ethereum to external wallets. The new feature is already being tested with a selected group of bank customers.
Guto Antunes, Head of Itaú Digital Assets, explained that the project, called Wallet-in, is in the testing phase.
“We are in the testing phase of what we call Wallet-in, and some customers are already participating in this phase,” stated Antunes.
He added that the expectation is that, in 2025, the functionality will be available to the bank’s entire customer base, according to the lessons learned during the tests.

Furthermore, Antunes highlighted that Itaú intends to expand the trading of other cryptocurrencies throughout 2025 and 2026. “We have plans to expand this offer throughout 2025 and 2026. The inclusion of new tokens will be in line with regulatory revolutions in Brazil, ” he said.
He highlighted that the choice of upcoming tokens will be based on customer needs and market trends.
At the same time, Itaú also announced the inclusion of Bitcoin and Ethereum trading directly in the bank’s superapp. This new functionality will be available in the application’s investment menu, with a minimum investment of R$10.00.
Furthermore, there will be no monthly fees or additional charges when selling cryptocurrencies. “The objective is to serve millions of customers in a democratic and innovative way, with a focus on hyper-personalization and a unique banking experience for each user,” explained the bank.
Therefore, according to the bank, the decision to allow the trading of cryptoassets is part of Itaú’s strategy to expand its range of financial products.
With this measure, the bank aims to meet the growing demand for investments in cryptocurrencies, offering security and ease to its customers. Antunes also mentioned that transactions will have a 2.5% fee at the time of purchase, but there will be no future fees on sales.
