Barcelona Want to Bring Home Messi and Neymar This Summer

Barcelona are reportedly keen to re-sign Lionel Messi and Neymar this summer.

Club president Joan Laporta has confirmed that Messi is the main transfer target for the Catalan club. As is known, the Argentina international is preparing to leave Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

Messi is expected to have a big money offer from Saudi Arabia, but he is said to want to return to Camp Nou following his emotional departure in the summer of 2021.

Barcelona’s financial problems caused the experienced striker to leave on a free transfer. PSG then signed him for two years, which will expire at the end of June.

Messi has scored 20 goals and registered 19 assists in 38 appearances for PSG this season. There is actually a clause in his current contract that allows him to extend his stay in Paris until June 2024.

However, the World Cup winner’s colossal wages must be factored in, with Barcelona having to make room in their wage budget.

Meanwhile, Neymar represented the Catalan side between 2013 and 2017, winning two La Liga titles, three Copa del Reys and the Champions League during a hugely successful period with Messi.

Messi’s move will not be as complicated as Neymar’s, as the Brazilian will be on a free transfer at the end of June.

Neymar has scored 18 goals and registered 17 assists in 29 appearances at club level during the 2022-23 season. He still has two more years to run on his contract at PSG.

Manchester United and Chelsea have recently been linked with an interest in the 31-year-old. However PSG are said to be open to letting him go on loan.
