BATGIRL: LESLIE GRACE DEFENDS THE FILM AGAIN, CLAIMING SHE SAW AN AMAZING CUT OF IT

BATGIRL – FEATURE FILM WAS CANCELED IN AUGUST LAST YEAR. Last year, management at Warner Bros. was changed following the merger with Discovery , resulting in the company spending several cuts across its major studios, with Batgirl , a feature film starring Leslie Grace , being one of the casualties. Despite being placed as a film whose test screening was unsuccessful, the protagonist again defends the project, and claims that the cut was incredible.

Leslie Grace defends Batgirl’s initial cut again

Sitting down with Variety this Monday, February 13, actress Leslie Grace finally addressed the comments made by Peter Safran , one of the CO-CEOs of DC Studios , regarding the Batgirl feature recently. In them, for those who are not familiar, the president had pointed out that the project did not have the quality to be released, and that the choice to cancel it in the middle of post-production was a courageous one. 

Leslie , however, claims that she was also surprised by the cancellation, and even got to meet with the presidents of Warner Bros. Pictures , Pam Abdy and Mike DeLuca to discuss the matter. In conclusion, she points out that the pair explained how they felt about the project, and that neither had anything specific to say about the project’s creativity and how it could potentially hurt DC .

The actress pointed out that she could see the film up until the time it was in production, but that her first test scenes weren’t even ready. She says, “It wasn’t complete when they canceled it, it had a lot of scenes that still needed to be edited. The movie that I saw – the scenes that were there – were incredible. There was a lot of potential for a good movie, in my opinion. Maybe in the future some clips will come out there.”

As for Batgirl ‘s future , however, the actress doesn’t know if she will return as the character, but claims that “we’ve definitely had conversations about the future and how she might resurface.” The actress points out that she can’t say much about her future, or guarantee anything, but she still has to wait and see where this journey takes her.

Last month, James Gunn revealed new plans for the DC Universe going forward, and so far, Batgirl still doesn’t seem to have a place.
