Beat Jay Idzes’ Team, Roma’s Problems Are Still Far From Over

Milan, Todaysgist.com – AS Roma’s problems are far from over even though new coach Ivan Jurić achieved two wins in two Italian Serie A League matches. Finally, Roma beat Venezia, a team strengthened by Indonesian player Jay Idzes, Sunday (29/9/2024).

Local midfielder Niccolò Pisilli, who grew up supporting Roma and progressed through the youth team, scored his first Serie A goal to help Roma bounce back and beat newly promoted Venezia 2-1.

Venezia had taken the lead at half-time, prompting loud boos from Roma fans. Juric certainly has to think hard so that his team continues to rise so that it no longer becomes a target for its own supporters. His team’s shortcomings must be overcome.

Roma finally got their first win of the season last week, days after Jurić replaced the sacked Daniele De Rossi. There were protests by fans during the match against Udinese and enthusiasm waned further after the 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League midweek.

Venezia took the lead on Roma going into halftime. Gianluca Busio fired a curling shot which hit the far right post. However, in the end Joel Pohjanpalo was able to fire a shot into the bottom left corner of the Roma goal in the 44th minute.

Ridgeciano Haps scored a goal for Venezia at the start of the second half. However, he was caught offside in the process of scoring a goal.

Roma finally equalized in the 75th minute through Bryan Cristante. Cristante’s hard shot hit Busio and soared high without Venezia goalkeeper Jesse Joronen being able to block it.

Roma turned things around eight minutes later when Pisilli, who turned 20 last Monday (23/9/2024), headed the ball from a corner kick from the post.
