Bitcoin (BTC) registered an increase for the third consecutive week. Despite the correction seen last Friday (15), the cryptocurrency closed last week up 12% and returned to above US$90,000. This Monday (18), the cryptocurrency operates at US$91,950, an increase of 1.1% in the last 24 hours.
In November, BTC accumulated gains of 30.72%, the fourth best result in the historical series. Furthermore, this is the biggest appreciation of Bitcoin for the month since 2020, the year in which the cryptocurrency also renewed its highs.
With last week’s appreciation, BTC reached three consecutive weeks of appreciation, with an increase of almost 30% in this period.
The biggest weekly increase in the Top 10 was XRP, which practically doubled in price, while Dogecoin (DOGE) and Cardano (ADA) came next with gains of 29%. On the other hand, Ether (ETH) was the only cryptocurrency that closed the week in decline: its decline reached 2.2%.
Bitcoin Analysis
And in the Top 100, all five of the week’s biggest rises exceeded 100%. The biggest highlight by far was the memecoin PNUT, whose price soared 286%, more than double that of BONK, which saw gains of 101%. The OM token rose 190% and Litecoin (LTC) registered an increase of 118%.
The price of Bitcoin today rose 1.1% and reached around US$91,900, but briefly surpassed US$92,000. This optimistic outlook is due to the recent break of the $75,000 barrier, which triggered a new phase of price discovery.
Furthermore, the move comes after a seven-month consolidation that allowed buyers to accumulate more BTC. This accumulation has reduced the cryptocurrency’s supply at a crucial time of growing demand.
Although many altcoins have soared above triple digits, Bitcoin is recovering and its appreciation exceeds that of many altcoins. ETH, for example, records gains of just 39%.
Although Bitcoin is the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, Bitcoin’s popularity is due to its first-mover advantage and having a secure, decentralized network. Even so, theses such as memecoins also registered a strong increase in November.
DOGE records gains of 157% in the month, surpassing the appreciation of BTC in the same period by more than five times.
