The expected “Christmas rally” did not materialize. After all, the Bitcoin (BTC) continuing to lose value as the year comes to an end. This Monday (30), the largest cryptocurrency on the market fell 1.3%, trading below US$94,000, more precisely US$93,713.
The downward trend also affects the main altcoins, with the XRP retreating about 5% to US$2.07 and XLM depreciating 4.2% to US$0.33.
Bitcoin’s performance in recent weeks has frustrated optimistic expectations. The asset began its downward trajectory in December 17thwhen it was quoted above $108,000. In just three days, he lost about $16,000falling to $92,000.
Despite buyers’ efforts to hold the price above $90,000BTC was unable to maintain a consistent recovery. The asset tried to get closer to $100,000 on a few occasions, but was rejected on all of them. The last attempt took place in December 26thwhen Bitcoin briefly reached that mark before falling back.
In the last 24 hours, the scenario has worsened. Bitcoin fell close to US$93,000 – its lowest value considering the last seven days. Additionally, BTC’s market cap is now below US$1.86 trillion. Meanwhile, its dominance in the crypto market remains at 54.1%according to data from CoinGecko.
Altcoins also face a bearish scenario. XRPfor example, is one of the most affected cryptocurrencies, it fell to close to $2. Analysts warn that, if the asset loses this support, further falls towards $1 may occur.
Another negative highlight is XLMwhich fell 4.2% and now trades well below $0.35. Other large-cap assets such as BNB, SOL, DOGE, ADA, TRX, AVAX, LINK, TON and SUIare also falling, although in less drastic proportions.
The cryptocurrency market as a whole also suffered significant losses. Total capitalization fell further US$60 billion since yesterday, reaching US$3.430 trillionaccording to data from CoinGecko.
