BlackRock begins Bitcoin ETF trading in Canada

THE BlackRock Launched iShares Bitcoin ETF (IBIT) on Cboe Canadaallowing Canadian investors to access Bitcoin indirectly. THE ETF, which grew 42.5% in assets, already has over US$50 billion in liquidity. The appreciation of the fund’s shares reached 103.85% in one year.
According to a statement issued on Monday, 13th, the BlackRock started selling shares of the iShares Bitcoin ETF (IBIT), on Cboe Canadathe country’s stock exchange. The ETF is available to Canadians interested in investing in BTC, but not interested in purchasing the cryptocurrency directly.
Traded on Nasdaq, in New York, the IBIT arrives in Canada with the title of most successful ETF, as it had the highest growth in just 1 year. The ETF began 2024 with net assets of around US$122 million. It completed its first 12 months in operation with 52 billion under its management. A growth of 42.5%.
The fund’s shares also performed significantly. You investors saw their shares appreciate by 103.85% with the jump from US$23 to US$52.
IBIT on Cboe Canada
The success of the fund meant that the Nasdaq requested the SEC, the US Securities and Exchange Commission, to increase the fund’s position limit. The manager of the second largest stock exchange in the world wants to increase the current limit tenfold, from 25,000 to 250,000.
Now, with the iShares Bitcoin ETF that seeks to reflect the price performance of Bitcoin, Canadian investors will be able to gain exposure to the digital asset without having to acquire ownership of a Bitcoin. The background invests substantially in long-term holdings in the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, known as IBIT USA. Helen Hayes, Head of iShares Canada, commented:

Headquartered in the capital Toronto, Cboe Canada is responsible for trading 15% of all securities traded in the country. Furthermore, the exchange is controlled by Cboe Global Markets, an American company that also controls stock exchanges in Netherlands, Australia, Japan and in Europe.
