Blues’ First Pre-Season Match Draw
Santa Clara, Todaysgist.com – Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw against Wrexham in their first pre-season match in Santa Clara, California, on Thursday (25/7/2024) WIB. This match was the first match The Blues under the tutelage of Enzo Maresca.
Chelsea trailed 1-2 before Lesley Ugochukwo equalised in the 82nd minute.
The Blues opened the scoring in the 35th minute through Christopher Nkunku’s goal.
Wrexham pressed back, exploiting Chelsea’s defensive weaknesses. Two of their players, Luke Bolton and Jack Marriott, gave Wrexham a 2-1 lead in the 58th and 71st minutes of the second half.
After a 2-2 draw, Chelsea pressed their opponents to chase the winner. A cross-field attack almost brought The Blues ahead. But Boyle managed to prevent the cross to the opposing player.
Wrexham played defensively until the end of the match.
Chelsea’s schedule on the pre-season tour of the US continues to Notre Dame, on Saturday (27/7/2024) evening US time or Sunday (28/7/2024) morning WIB. The Blues will face Celtic.
