Bradesco plans to implement digital identity on blockchain by 2025

Bradesco intends to adopt blockchain technology to create a decentralized digital identity systemas revealed in a report by Ricardo Bomfim for Valor Econômico.
According to the report, during an “Ideathon” held recently, the bank tested initiatives related to the topic and confirmed that the first use case is planned for 2025.
According to Bradesco, the use of blockchain can simplify processes such as account openingapproving transactions via messaging applications and taking out insurance.
The technology also promises to improve the experience in healthcare services and other strategic areas, making the most efficient and safe customer service.

Unlike traditional methods, the new model proposes that customers’ personal data is represented by tokens stored on the blockchain.
This format guarantees security and immutability of information, but also allows clients or issuers to revoke credentials when necessary.
“This approach combines transparency, security and flexibility, creating value for companies and consumers within a reliable digital ecosystem,” Bradesco explained to Valor.
The project is part of a series of initiatives related to Drex, the financial system tokenization proposal promoted by the Central Bank.
With this, the bank seeks to integrate innovative technologies to solve business problems and streamline processes, such as the use of tokenized CDBs in loans and the management of the life cycle of debentures.
The report highlights that the initiative began in July and involved workshops to train internal teams on decentralized digital identity.
