Breaking into the Finals, Zohri Maintains Medal Opportunities in the Men’s 100 Meters

Indonesian runner Lalu Muhammad Zohri managed to qualify for the men’s 100 meter sprint final. He maintains the opportunity to win a medal in the prestigious number of sprints at the 2023 SEA Games Cambodia athletics which took place at the Morodok Techo National Stadium, Friday (12/5/2023) afternoon.

In the preliminary round, Zohri, who appeared in heat two, only won fourth place with a time of 10.56 seconds.

The athlete from NTB is behind Khairul Hafiz Jantan (Malaysia) who finished first with 10.37 seconds, Ngoc Nghia Ngan (Vietnam) came in second with 10.47, and Mark Brian Louis (Singapore) came in third with 10.52 seconds .

However, another Indonesian representative, Wahyu Setiawan, had to stop in the qualifying round after placing third in heat 1 with a time of 10.66 seconds.

In the final round Friday afternoon, eight athletes will again compete for medals.

The runners who will also be Zohri’s competitors are Joshua Hanwei Cua from Singapore and vice-host Cambodia Pen Sukong.

For athletics, Indonesia also has an athlete who will compete this afternoon, namely Odekta Elvina Naibaho who will compete in the women’s 10,000 meter number.

Overall Indonesian athletics has collected seven gold, three silver and eight bronze.
