Carlos Pena Asks Persija Players to Be Aware of PSBS Threats Under New Coach

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Persija coach Carlos Pena is aware of the potential threat from PSBS Biak under the direction of their interim coach Marcos Guillermo Samso, who replaced the recently released Juan Esnaider, ahead of the two teams’ match in the Indonesian League 1 on Thursday (12/9/2024).

“A new coach usually brings new energy and enthusiasm to the team,” Pena said in a press conference ahead of the match, as quoted from Persija’s official statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (11/9/2024).

The Spanish coach added that this new spirit must be watched out for because it could be a factor that makes things difficult for Persija.

For that, Pena emphasized that his team will give maximum performance on the field. “We focus on ourselves, how to give our best. However, we still respect the opponent,” said the 41-year-old coach.

Persija’s left back, Firza Andika, also emphasized his and the team’s readiness to face PSBS. Firza did not want to give space for the opponent to develop the game and make it difficult for Persija in the match.

“The opponent will definitely want to get points, especially since Persija has away team status. We are ready to anticipate all possibilities and will fight hard for a positive result,” said Firza, a 25-year-old player.

PSBS Biak released their head coach, Juan Esnaider, just before the match against Persija, after the team failed to score any points in their first three matches in the 2024-2025 Indonesian League 1.

In the meantime, the PSBS head coach position is filled by Argentine assistant coach Marcos Guillermo Samso, who will work with assistant coaches Elie Aiboy and Joice Sorongan.

The match between PSBS Biak and Persija will take place at the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, on Thursday (12/9/2024), at 19.00 WIB.

In the temporary standings of the 2024-2025 Indonesian League 1, Persija is in third place with seven points, while PSBS is in 16th place with no points from three matches.
