China Beats Host Bahrain, Indonesia is in Bottom Position

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – China surprisingly managed to beat hosts Bahrain 1-0 at the Bahrain National Stadium in Riffa, Thursday (14/11/2024) evening WIB. This result puts the Indonesian national team in last place in Group C standings in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualification in the Asian zone.

China’s winning goal was scored in the 90+2 minute by striker Zhang Yuning. This goal gave China their first win in the third round of the Asian zone World Cup qualifiers. This goal started from Wang Hajian’s greatness in creating games.

In this match, Bahrain actually appeared dominant by recording 71% of ball possession, while China only had 29%. However, China played more effectively and scored one goal.

Bahrain goalkeeper Ebrahim Lutfalla recorded two saves. Meanwhile, Chinese goalkeeper Wang Dafei made one save to prevent his goal from being conceded. Both teams took two precise kicks on goal.

The match was marked by a red card for Bahrain defender Waleed Al Hayam in the 90+9 minute. The score 1-0 in favor of China lasted until referee Adham Muhammad Thumah Makhadmeh from Jordan blew the long whistle.

China has now managed to pass Bahrain and Indonesia in Group C. The team coached by Branko Ivankovic is now in fourth position with six points. Meanwhile, Bahrain dropped to fifth position with a collection of five points. Indonesia is in last position with three points.

The first position is still occupied by Japan with 10 points. Australia is in second place with a collection of six points after drawing 0-0 against visiting Saudi Arabia, Thursday (14/11/2024).

Saudi Arabia is in third place with the same number of points as Australia. The new Indonesian national team will play its fifth match on Friday (15/11/2024) at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, against Japan.
