China Open 2024 Results: Dramatic Loss to Thai Hero, Anthony Ginting Fails in the Top 8

Ginting’s failure means that three Indonesian representatives have made it to the semifinals of the 2024 China Open. They are men’s singles Jonatan Christie, men’s doubles Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin, and mixed doubles Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.

Meanwhile, Ginting suffered the same fate as the men’s doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto. Fajar/Rian had to admit the superiority of the Malaysian pair Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi.

“In the second game especially, Ong/Teo found their confidence and it continued in the third game. The opponent had a very tight defense, not easy to penetrate and that was proven in this match,” said Fajar in a PBSI statement.

“We have tried various ways but the opponent is very good and we made many mistakes. We must immediately find a way to find solutions when under pressure,” he continued.
