Apart from being often considered an asset that has no intrinsic value, Aditya explained that crypto assets are also often considered too volatile so they are not suitable as investment assets.

Aditya confirmed that crypto assets such as Bitcoin do have high volatility, but as an investment asset, Bitcoin is still suitable as a long-term investment.

“Even though if you look at the graph, Bitcoin is volatile in the short term, but in the long term it tends to move up,” he said.

Aditya said there are several factors that influence Bitcoin price movements, namely supply and demand from society and institutions, government regulations, global events such as war, and news or opinions of influential figures.

It's Not Too Late to Invest in Bitcoin

The price of Bitcoin touched its all-time high at USD 73,737 or the equivalent of IDR 1.19 billion (assuming an exchange rate of IDR 16,181 per US dollar) last March. Aditya said it was not too late to invest in Bitcoin because currently the development of crypto assets is still in the early stages of adoption.

“When compared to other assets, Bitcoin and crypto assets are still in the early stages of development. As technology develops, the value of Bitcoin and crypto assets will become increasingly apparent with the solutions offered, including as a store of value, as a means of transfer, and as a super -computer,” concluded Aditya.

Apart from that, currently crypto assets are starting to attract interest from institutional investors. This can be seen from the approval of the Bitcoin Spot ETF in January 2024 by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This means that confidence in Bitcoin as an institutional investment asset will continue to increase.
