The mysterious Ruja Ignatova, known worldwide as the “Crypto Queen”, the founder of the OneCoin cryptocurrency pyramid, is alive and well in a luxurious area of Cape Town, South Africa.
The statement comes from a recent investigation by the German publication Der Spiegel. The report disputes theories that Ignatova was murdered in 2018 at the behest of organized crime figures in Bulgaria.
German authorities are now operating under the assumption that Ignatova, one of the best-known faces in cryptocurrency fraud, remains active.
For years, the global community speculated about Ignatova’s fate. She disappeared after authorities identified OneCoin as a billion-dollar Ponzi scheme.
Is Crypto Queen Alive?
It was believed that someone had murdered the founder of OneCoin and dumped her body in the Ionian Sea. However, new evidence suggests that she may have escaped and found refuge in a high-security suburb in South Africa. In the region, she reportedly maintains contact with close family members, including her brother, Konstantin Ignatov.
According to Der Spiegel, German authorities reviewed the investigation files and found inconsistencies in the evidence regarding Ignatova’s alleged murder.
Christophoros Amanatidis, a Bulgarian drug dealer believed to have ordered the murder, was in custody in the Netherlands when the crime allegedly occurred. This discovery raised questions about the veracity of claims of his death. Furthermore, the absence of public mourning in Ignatova’s family strengthens the hypothesis that she remains alive.
Sabine Dässel, spokeswoman for the LKA Düsseldorf criminal investigation unit, confirmed that authorities are now considering the possibility that Ignatova is hiding on South African territory.
“We assume that Ruja Ignatova is still alive. His relationships with his family and the behavior of his relatives support this theory. There are no signs of mourning, which indicates that his family also does not believe in his death,” commented Dässel.
The team of German documentary filmmaker Johan von Mirbach, who produces a documentary about Cripto Queen, received information from local sources that reinforces its presence in the region. Duncan Arthur, a former OneCoin employee, also endorses the theory that Ignatova is still alive. He stated that the scammer maintained contact with her brother after the date of his disappearance.
