Dani Olmo Says Farewell to Leipzig Ahead of Barcelona Move
Madrid, Todaysgist.com – Spanish international Dani Olmo said goodbye to RB Leipzig, where he played for four years, on Friday (9/8/2024). The midfielder is expected to join Barcelona soon.
Olmo (26), signed for Leipzig in 2020, and last year extended his contract until 2027. He has played 148 times for the team in all competitions, scoring 29 goals, and winning two German Cups.
“Young club, young players, we grew, won our first trophies and made history together,” Olmo said on social media.
“Two Cups and a Super Cup are just a few of the many unforgettable moments that I will always remember. Thank you RB Leipzig, you will always be in my heart.”
Olmo was a key part of Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, and was one of six Spanish players in UEFA’s team of the tournament.
According to media reports, Olmo is expected to sign a contract with Barcelona, the club where he spent seven years in the youth academy before joining Dinamo Zagreb at the age of 16.
