Defeated in the Last 16 of the 2024 Korea Open, Rehan/Lisa Will Improve Defense

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Mixed doubles Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati want to improve their defense after being stopped in the last 16 of the 2024 Korea Open on Thursday (29/8/2024).

Competing at the Mokpo Indoor Stadium, Yeosu, South Korea, Rehan/Lisa fought hard against the home pair Kim Won Ho/Jeong Na Eun before finally losing with a score of 16-21, 21-11, 21-23.

Lisa revealed that the lack of patience in playing and the desire to quickly kill the opponent were the main factors in their defeat.

“From the match earlier, we need to evaluate and learn lessons, especially in terms of returning the ball. The direction and way of throwing the ball need to be improved. Defense also needs to be improved,” said Lisa in a PBSI statement, Thursday (29/8/2024).

“It must be admitted that the opponent did have stronger endurance, especially the male players. They really showed a very strong desire to win,” he added.

Rehan also said something similar, admitting that he was not calm when competing.

“There were a few times when I played too hastily and my shots were inaccurate. As a result, our game did not go well, especially in the last points,” said Rehan.

“When we were leading 17-14 in the third game, I saw that my opponent was able to play more freely. Players who are behind can usually play without any burden, so their shots go in more. Meanwhile, we were in a hurry.”

With this defeat, Rehan/Lisa followed in the footsteps of mixed doubles Dejan Ferdiansyah/Gloria Emmanuelle Widjaja who were already eliminated, leaving the men’s doubles Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin in this BWF Super 500 tournament.

In addition, men’s singles Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo and women’s singles Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo also stopped in the first round of this tournament.
