Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The visiting Red Devils team led by coach Ruben Amorim managed to qualify for the fourth round of the FA Cup after winning 5-3 on penalties in the Arsenal vs MU (Manchester United) match at the Eirates Stadium, London, Sunday (12/1/2025).

The match had to be resolved by a penalty shootout after the two teams drew 1-1 in normal time and extra time. In the penalty shootout, MU goalkeeper Altay Bayindir became a hero by saving Arsenal player Kai Havertz’s shot. The fifth kicker, Joshua Zirkzee, also brought MU to victory because his kick resulted in a goal.

MU took the lead in this match thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ goal. However, the visiting team had to appear with 10 players from the 61st minute, after Diogo Dalot was sent off. Arsenal then scored a goal that made the score equal thanks to Gabriel Magalhaes’ goal.

Even though they only competed in the third round of the FA Cup, both teams still fielded core players in the Arsenal vs MU match at the Emirates Stadium, London, Sunday (12/1/2025) at 22.00 WIB.

The FA Cup has only entered the third round, but the two top Premier League teams must meet. However, the positions of the two teams in the Premier League standings are very different. Arsenal is now in second place with 40 points. Meanwhile, MU is currently still scattered in 13th position with 23 points.

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta displayed a 4-3-3 formation in this FA Cup match. He fielded Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli on the front lines.

This trio is supported by Martin Odegaard, Jorginho and Mikel Merino. Meanwhile, the back line was entrusted to Jurrien Timber, William Lintasa, Gabriel and Miles Lewis-Skelly.

Meanwhile, MU coach Ruben Amorim used a 3-4-2-1 formation. He featured Rasmus Hojlund as the sole striker. This Danish striker is supported by the duo Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho.

The midfield is filled with Diogo Dalot, Kabbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Noussair Mazraoui. In the back line, MU fielded Matthijs De Ligt, Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez. MU did not field Andre Onana as a starter. The role of goalkeeper from Cameroon was replaced by Altay Bayindir.

Both teams attacked each other in the first half but neither managed to score a goal. In the 40th minute, Gabriel Jesus was withdrawn and replaced by Raheem Sterling. The goalless draw lasted until the end of the first half.

The visiting team took the lead in the Arsenal vs MU match thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ action when the match entered the 52nd minute. This midfielder from Portugal successfully broke into Arsenal’s goal after maximizing Alejandro Garnacho’s pass.

Arsenal then worked hard to equalize the score. The incessant attacks carried out by Arsenal made MU have to play a little rough. MU winger Diogo Dalot received a second yellow card in the 61st minute and had to leave the field.

Arsenal then managed to take advantage of their superior number of players. Just two minutes after Diogo Dalot received a red card, Arsenal managed to equalize through the action of Gabriel Magalhaes. This Brazilian player fired a kick from outside the penalty box which could not be anticipated.

Arsenal actually had a golden opportunity to take the lead. They were awarded a penalty in the 70th. However, Martin Odegaard’s penalty failed to produce a goal. His left footed shot into the bottom right corner was blocked by MU goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

MU replaced striker Rasmus Hojlund with Josua Zirkzee in the 81st minute. Previously, MU also included Amad Diallo to replace Alejandro Garnacho. In the 90th minute, MU also replaced Manuel Ugarte with Tyrell Malacia.

Meanwhile in the Arsenal camp, Mikel Merino was replaced with Declan Rice in the 73rd minute. They also brought on Leandro Trossard to replace Myles Lewis-Skelly in the 90th minute.

The 1-1 draw lasted until the match was over. The match must continue with extra rounds. When the extra half entered the 104th minute, Armorim withdrew Harry Maguire and introduced Leny Yoro.

In this extra round, Arsenal introduced Thomas Partey to replace Jurrien Timer. Another substitution was Jorginho by Kiera Tierney. The 1-1 score lasted until the extra round ended so the match had to be finished with a penalty shootout.

During the penalty shootout, MU shooters, namely Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, Leny Yoro, and Lisandro Martinez, and Johua Zirkzee all managed to score goals.

Meanwhile in the Arsenal camp, those who managed to score goals were Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Thomas Partey.
