Donald Trump Wants to Make US a Crypto Mining Hub

The Republican Party led by former US President Donald Trump has officially adopted a platform to support cryptocurrency innovation.

News of the formation of the platform circulated in the form of a document released by the US Republican National Committee.

Quoting Coindesk, Wednesday (10/7/2024), this platform is intended to explain the party's priorities when Trump and Republican congressional candidates run in the US election next November.

The move also shows the increasing interest of Trump and other Republican politicians in digital assets.

“Republicans will end the unlawful and un-American crackdown on crypto and oppose the creation of a Central Bank Digital Currency,” the document said.

“We will defend the right to mine Bitcoin, and ensure every American has the right to hold their own Digital Assets, and transact free from Government Oversight and Control,” he explained.

In recent months, Trump has turned his suspicion of cryptocurrencies into strong support.

He also has personal experience with digital assets, having launched several sets of his own branded non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

The Trump campaign and affiliated political action committees also accept crypto donations.

The committee’s new platform announcement lists its 20 key policy “pledges” without including crypto items, but digital assets appear in the economic section under innovation initiatives.
