East Java Women’s Volleyball Team Destroys West Java’s Dominance

Deli Serdang, Todaysgist.com – The East Java (Jatim) women’s volleyball team destroyed the dominance of West Java (Jabar) which previously won three medals in three editions of PON.

East Java defeated East Java with a score of 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-23, and 25-23) in the final round of PON XXI Aceh Sumut 2024 at the Sumut Sport Center, Deli Serdang, Thursday (19/9/2024).

East Java’s achievement has increased drastically because at the 2021 PON XX Papua, they were only able to advance to the last eight.

In the first set of the women’s volleyball final of PON XXI, West Java immediately took the first point, but East Java was able to equalize through Megawati’s smash so that the score was tied at 1-1.

The tight score continued to occur between the two teams, starting from a position of 4-4 to 9-8, Jatim was able to take the lead. However, it was immediately equalized by Jabar.

After time out Second, West Java was slowly able to turn things around and take the lead and secure the first set with a final score of 25-22.

Entering the second set of the women’s volleyball final of PON XXI, West Java played aggressively and was able to score the first point through Shella Bernadetha’s smash which could not be blocked by the East Java players.

In contrast to the first set, Jabar was more comfortable and was even able to lead by five points at 8-3, before Jatim finally reduced the deficit to 4-8.

Even though they were five points behind, East Java, strengthened by Indonesia’s best player at the moment, Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi, was slowly able to recover and was able to equalize the score to 13-13.

Jatim turned the game around to 17-16 through two Megawati serves that could not be blocked by Jabar players. However, Megawati’s service error gave a point to the Bumi Pasundan team so that Jabar’s score.

After falling behind again, East Java was able to secure the second set with a score of 25-23 so that the overall score was tied at 1-1.

In the third set of the women’s volleyball final of PON XXI, the match was tight again, even the score was tied at 15-15 and even up to 20-20.

The match continued to be tight and the score was still narrow, however, East Java was finally able to turn things around after winning the third set with a score of 25-23.

Entering the fourth set, the tight score and chasing each other continued to occur. In the end, Jatim was able to outperform Jabar in the final moments and won with a score of 25-23.
