East Java Wushu Team Wins Overall Champion of PON XXI, Central Java Dominates Sanda

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – The East Java (Jatim) wushu team, which collected 7 gold, 9 silver, and 9 bronze medals, successfully won the overall champion title at the XXI/2024 Aceh North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) wushu.

The second position is occupied by the host, North Sumatra (Sumut) which collected 7 gold medals, 4 silver, and 1 bronze. Then, Central Java (Jateng) with a collection of 7 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze in third place. DKI Jakarta is in fourth place with 6 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze.

In the final match which took place at the GOR Serba Guna Jalan Pancing Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, Sunday (15/9/2024), East Java added 2 gold medals from the Duilian number.

“East Java only targeted 5 gold medals and we have exceeded it by winning 7 gold medals,” said East Java Wushu Team Manager Sherly Hoedono.

East Java duet, Nathalie Chriselda Tanasa/Benedicta Rafaella Karolusia Prasetyo won the gold medal in the Women’s Olympic Games with a score of 9.360.

The silver medal was won by Central Java (Jessica Antonetta/Evelyn Nuara Adelia/Theodora Rosa Santoso) with a score of 9,330 and Jambi (Anastasya Astuti/Veren Aprilia/Ananda Sri Mardiana) who achieved a score of 9,326 to win the bronze medal.

This success was followed by the mainstay trio of East Java, Akbar Dwi Affandi, Nicholaus Karanka Adi Nugroho and Muhammad Zaki Ikbaar Ramadhan who won the Men’s Dullian gold with a score of 9.366.

The silver medal also belonged to East Java (Ahmad Ghifari Fuaiz/Rakay Nobel Ardiansyah/Ahmad Ghozali Fuaiz with a score of 9.356 and Jambi (Candika Nugraha/Zio Catriadi) received a bronze medal with a score of 9.323.

In the Sanda category, Central Java still dominates by winning 6 gold medals from its 7 athletes who appeared in the final. The host, North Sumatra, which also featured 7 athletes in the final, only got 3 gold medals.

The six gold medals from Central Java were contributed by Bayu Peni Peni Hendrasswar who defeated Novriza Raihanda (Aceh) in the women’s 48 kg class, Tharisa Dea Florentina who competed in the women’s 52 kg class by defeating Elsanda Sitio (North Sumatra).

Then, Gita Ariesta who won over Melisa Try Andani (Jambi) in the women’s 56 kg class, Thania Kusumaningtyas who won over Elika Boru Tarigan (North Sumatra) in the women’s 60 kg class, Yusuf Widiyanto (Central Java) WPD Elbi Elisius Brahmana (North Sumatra) in the men’s 56 kg class, and Puja Riyaya (Central Java) who defeated Roberto Manik (North Sumatra) in the men’s 75 kg class.

“We are happy to win 6 gold medals from 7 finalists. This has exceeded the initial target of only 4 gold medals. In PON XX/2020 Papua alone, we only got 3 gold medals from Sanda,” said Central Java Wushu Team Manager Mochamad Zaenuri.

Meanwhile, North Sumatra won 3 gold medals through Fereddy Sinaga TV (technical victory) over Khairil Walidi (Aceh) in the 52 kg class, Samuel Marbun won DF (error on the field) over M Akbar Rizky Dwi Putra (South Sumatra in the 56 kg class, and Harry Brahmana who defeated Rahmad Dwi Kurniawan (Aceh) in the men’s 70 kg class.

“I appreciate the maximum effort of the North Sumatran sanda athletes. I am grateful to have won 3 gold medals from the Sanda category. This result is indeed the same as PON XXI/2020 Papua. However, overall the North Sumatra Wushu Team has exceeded the target by winning 7 gold medals. The initial target was 5 gold medals,” said the Head of the North Sumatra WI Provincial Government, Darsen Song.

The DKI Jakarta Wushu Team still got a gold medal from the Sanda category even though it only placed the only athlete in the final. Jamanta who competed in the men’s 60 kg class won the gold by defeating Bintang Reindra Nada Guitara from Central Java.

“I am proud to be the only Jakarta sanda athlete who can contribute a gold medal. Bintang is indeed the first time I have met him but I can handle it well,” said Jamanta who was met after the match.
