Erick Thohir Announces that Kevin Diks Can Appear to Defend the Indonesian National Team Against Japan

Kevin Diks, who just completed the naturalization process on Friday (8/11/2024) at the Indonesian Embassy in Denmark, has been confirmed to be able to play when Indonesia vs Japan on Friday (11/15/2024) at 19.00 WIB at the Gelora Bung Main Stadium Karno (SUGBK), Senayan, Jakarta.

This assurance was conveyed by PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir on Monday (11/11/2024). “Thank God, Kevin Diks can finally officially strengthen the Indonesian National Team when the Garuda Squad hosts Japan on November 15 2024,” said Erick.

Previously, it was doubtful whether Kevin Diks could play in Indonesia vs Japan because of limited time. However, thanks to the quick cooperation of all related parties, the naturalization process for this experienced defender was completed early and he is now ready to defend the Indonesian National Team.

Erick Thohir also expressed his gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto, as well as the DPR, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ministry of Home Affairs, the Indonesian Embassy and other parties who have supported Kevin’s naturalization process so that it ran smoothly and quickly.

Erick hopes that Kevin Diks’ presence can strengthen the Indonesian national team’s defense line, especially since the opponent this time is Japan, which has the highest FIFA ranking in Asia. “With his experience playing in the Champions League, it is hoped that Kevin can further strengthen Indonesia’s back line,” said Erick.

The Indonesian national team is continuing its efforts to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. They will have two home matches at SUGBK. Indonesia vs Japan on 15 November 2024 and Indonesia vs Saudi Arabia on 19 November 2024.

Currently, Indonesia is in fifth position with three points from three draws and one defeat. PSSI General Chair, Erick Thohir, is targeting the Indonesian National Team to end this round in fourth place in Group C, so that they can advance to the fourth round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the Asian zone.
