Erick Thohir hints at Ole Romeny’s immediate naturalization process

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – PSSI chairman Erick Thohir gave a signal to immediately carry out the naturalization process for FC Utrecht player Ole Romeny to defend the Indonesian national team.

In the upload, Erick implied that Ole Romeny had decided to defend the Indonesian national team and believed that squad Garuda can appear in the World Cup.

“Occasionally different styles. With five matches remaining, including against Saudi Arabia in a few days, we need the same belief to realize our big dream together,” Erick wrote as reported by Between.

He said that hope still exists for all parties who are willing to fight wholeheartedly. “Thank you, Ole, for continuing to believe in Indonesia’s dream of appearing in the World Cup,” said Erick.

Ole Romeny is widely known as one of the players who has been naturalized by PSSI in recent times.

The player, who has Dutch blood, started his career at junior level with Dutch League club DVOL Youth and then moved to NEC Nijmegen Youth in 2011.

Subsequently, the 24 year old player was promoted to the NEC Nijmegen first team in 2018 and moved to club Willem (2020), FC Emmen (2022), and joined FC Utrecht at the start of the 2023/2024 season.

In the Dutch League competition this season, Ole Romeny was recorded as having appeared in 10 matches with FC Utrecht and was able to contribute two goals from a total of 673 minutes played.

It is hoped that Ole Romeny’s presence will increase the strength of the Indonesian national team in March 2025 when they compete in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian zone against Australia and Bahrain.
