Erick Thohir Photo with Patrick Kluivert Circulating on Social Media, Strong Signal for Training the Indonesian National Team?

Previously, the news of the dismissal of Shin Tae-yong (STY) as coach of the Indonesian National Team turned out to be true. PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir officially announced Shin Tae-yong’s dismissal at a press conference held at Danareksa Tower, Jakarta, Monday (6/1/2025).

“We see the need for a leader who can better implement the strategies agreed upon by the players, better communication and of course better program implementation for the national team. Pak Soemardji (national team manager) has met STY and STY has received correspondence and there is a further process regarding our relationship which has ended,” explained Erick Thohir.

Not long after PSSI announced the dismissal of Shin Tae-yong, renowned Italian football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, said that there had been an agreement between Patrick Kluivert and PSSI.

“Patrick Kluivert will be appointed as coach of the Indonesian National Team. “An agreement has been reached,” said Fabrizio Romano on his Instagram social media account, Monday (6/12024).

The world football player transfer practitioner said that Patrick Kluivert would be tied to a two-year contract with an option to extend for two years. Patrick Kluivert’s presentation as coach of the Indonesian National Team will be held on January 12 2025.

“Patrick Kluivert was given the target of bringing Indonesia to qualify for the 2026 World Cup,” said Fabrizio Romano.
