Erick Thohir Reveals the Progress of the Transformation of Indonesian Football to FIFA

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – PSSI General Chair, Erick Thohir, conveyed developments in the transformation of Indonesian football to FIFA President, Gianni Infantino.

“In a meeting with FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, I reported on the progress of the transformation of Indonesian football that we have carried out throughout 2024,” wrote Erick Thohir in a post on his personal Instagram, accompanied by a photo of himself with Infantino, Thursday (19/12/2024) .

Erick expressed his gratitude for the achievements achieved throughout 2024. The Indonesian national team under the guidance of coach Shin Tae-yong managed to achieve various proud achievements.

Some of the achievements mentioned include the success of the senior national team in qualifying for the third round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, the U-23 national team reaching the semifinals of the Asian Cup, and the success of the women’s national team in winning the AFF Cup. Apart from that, Indonesia also won the AFF Futsal Cup.

Furthermore, Erick added that four Indonesian national teams from various age groups, namely U-17, U-20, U-23 and the senior team, had confirmed themselves to appear in the Asian Cup finals. Meanwhile, the senior national team succeeded in bringing Indonesia up to 135th place in the FIFA rankings.

Another achievement related to the transformation of Indonesian football, Merah Putih recorded victory in the FIFAe World Cup Football Manager and FIFAe World Cup eFootball categories console.

According to Erick, all of these achievements show PSSI’s commitment to advancing Indonesian football. He also emphasized that this success was inseparable from the great support and trust given by Gianni Infantino and FIFA.

Erick said that in 2025, there will be a planned meeting between FIFA President Gianni Infantino and President Prabowo Subianto, to discuss further steps to support the development of Indonesian football.

“We will continue to fight to make Garuda better known on the world stage,” concluded Erick Thohir regarding the transformation of Indonesian football.
