Erick Thohir says Ole Romeny is confident in defending the national team

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – PSSI General Chair (Ketum) Erick Thohir said that naturalized player Ole Romeny was still confident in wanting to defend the Indonesian National Team (Timnas) after being defeated by Japan.

The 24 year old striker was seen in the audience watching Indonesia’s match against Japan, Friday (15/11/2024). He also met with the PSSI chairman after the match ended.

“When I saw Ole who came yesterday, after the match I met him I talked to him,” said Erick to journalists at the Danareksa Tower, Central Jakarta, Monday (18/11/2024).

During his meeting, Erick had time to discuss the naturalization process for the player from the Netherlands. He also asked Ole’s response after seeing Indonesia’s game against the Asian giant.

Erick revealed that Ole still wants to be part of the Indonesian national team. He is actually increasingly enthusiastic about strengthening the Indonesian National Team’s attack line under the guidance of coach Shin Tae-yong (STY).

“He actually wanted to be part of this big plan. So he still is confidence,” he said.

Apart from that, the PSSI chairman also hopes that the coach and all the players will continue to fight in every match in the third round of Group C of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asian zone. The reason is that Indonesia has a target to qualify for the World Cup.

“Qualifying the World Cup is not easy. “We know, but I don’t want this inconvenience to reduce our enthusiasm to fight all the way,” stressed Erick.
