Failed to Contribute Medals to the 2024 Paris Olympics, Fajar/Rian Apologize

Paris, Todaysgist.com – Indonesian men’s doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto apologized after being eliminated in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Fajar/Rian’s progress was stopped after being defeated by the Chinese pair Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang 22-24 and 20-22 at the Port de la Chapelle Arena, Thursday (1/8/2024) local time.

“We apologize to the Indonesian people, PBSI, NOC for not being able to advance to the next round. No athlete wants to lose and we are disappointed,” Fajar said after the match.

Fajar said he and Rian had put in their best efforts on the field. However, he admitted that the opponent performed better, especially in the final points.

“We tried to fight but we made our own mistakes. In terms of preparation, we have been at our best, a month in Jakarta, 10 days training camp in Chambly. All athletes definitely want to perform 100 percent but on the field there must be a sense of tension and others, that’s what can’t be overcome,” Fajar continued.

Rian expressed similar sentiments, admitting that this first Olympics was not easy for them.

“We just felt the atmosphere. From the beginning it was not easy, we felt how tense it was when we entered the field. The opponent played very well, we actually tried with the strategy that was prepared. More attacking in the second game and we were able to lead by a few points but we have not been able to finish with a win,” said Rian.

Rian said that this defeat was a lesson and experience for him and Fajar to be better in the future.
