Failed to Win Against Arema in Blitar, Dewa United Coach Blames the Pitch

Malang, Todaysgist.com – Dewa United coach, Jan Olde Riekerink, admitted that his team’s failure to win against the host Arema FC was due to the inadequate condition of the Soepriadi Stadium pitch in Blitar City, East Java.

“The field does not support our game,” said Jan Olde in Blitar City on Monday (12/8/2024).

The Dutch coach emphasized that the less than optimal field conditions made it difficult for Dewa United players to carry out the previously planned strategy.

Dewa United’s game strategy relies heavily on quick transitions between defense and attack, as well as solid teamwork. “You can imagine when Arema controls the ball, I as a player have to move there, then the ball comes back again,” added Jan Olde.

Jan Olde also emphasized that to achieve victory, the team cannot only rely on the individual abilities of the players, but must also implement a good team system.

“It is a solid team that always wins the championship,” he stressed.

Jan Olde also highlighted that the pre-season match schedule faced by Arema FC had a significant impact on his team’s performance. According to him, Arema FC players appeared more competitive.

“We just played three friendly matches two weeks ago, while Arema has played in five tight matches. They are more prepared for the competition,” he explained.

Dewa United player Alexis Messidoro added that away games are always challenging, especially with poor field conditions. He hopes that PSSI and PT LIB will pay more attention to the quality of the stadium so that Liga 1 can develop even better.

“This has to be a serious concern, not only for us but also for the progress of the league. This needs to be corrected,” said the Argentine player.

Messidoro remains optimistic that Dewa United will achieve maximum points in the next match. Dewa United will host Persib Bandung on Monday (19/8/2024). While they will face Borneo FC on Saturday (17/8/2024).
