While Dogecoin (DOGE) is one of the Top 10 cryptocurrencies that lost the most value this week, another memecoin followed the completely opposite path. This is the Fartcoin (FARTCOIN) is a token that emerged in October and has already accumulated gains of more than 230% in the last 30 days.
Just this week, the token price soared more than 100% and had a strong increase of 20% in the last 24 hours. According to CoinGecko, the price of memecoin reached US$1.08 this Thursday (19), which made it renew its historic high.
While FARTCOIN continues to break records, large memecoins like PEPE suffer strong drops motivated by Bitcoin (BTC) correction. With its humorous appeal and the absurd and unusual theme, FARTCOIN completely deviated from the downtrend and its market value has already exceeded US$ 1.06 billion.
In the specific case of PEPE, the reason is competition from a new memecoin which, like FARTCOIN, also makes fun of the crypto market: Wall Street Pepe (WEPE). This memecoin makes a parody of both the traditional market and memecoins and was a resounding success, with its pre-sale exceeding the value of US$30 million.
Flatulence and memecoin
FARTCOIN has what is perhaps the most unusual theme: flatulence – colloquially known as “farts“. The term “fart” is an English slang term for this word and served to increase interest in memecoin.
And just like in Brazil, foreign traders have not stopped doing puns and jokes. The memecoin community was filled with catchphrases such as “Hot air rises” and “Only gas, no brakes”, clear jokes involving the gases generated by flatulence.
Like other memecoins that gained traction in 2024, Fartcoin emerged on the Solana network in late October. Since then, the network has continued to gain value, with few moments of correction. In just over a half month, the price of FARTCOIN has skyrocketed by 230% according to data from Dexscreener.
A trader with over 22,000 followers placed FARTCOIN among its biggest appreciation bets to 2025, along with BTC and DOGE. With the current history, the trader’s bet has everything to make memecoin among the highest valuations of the year.
Another memecoin that is making waves on social media is in the Pepe ecosystem, but it represents a great threat to Pepecoin (PEPE). This is Wall Street Pepe (WEPE) and its pre-sales that simply took off in the last few days and reached levels above US$30 million.
According to the project’s official website, pre-sales have already accumulated more than US$32 million and remains firm in its plan to rename Wall Street as “Frog Street”. At this rate, WEPE has everything it needs to surpass another Pepe – Pepe Unchained – and consolidate itself as the most profitable pre-sale in 2024.
