Ferrari Becomes Engine Supplier for Cadillac F1 Team Starting in 2026 Racing Season

Maranello, Beritasatu.com – Ferrari will be the engine and gearbox supplier for the Cadillac Formula One (F1) team backed by General Motors (GM) starting in the 2026 season.

This announcement comes at the same time as a new era of engines in the racing sport. However, this agreement is still subject to official approval from the FIA ​​and Formula One regarding the team’s entry.

In its official statement, Tuesday (10/12/2024), Ferrari confirmed that the collaboration with Andretti Formula Racing LLC will begin if the team’s registration is accepted by the FIA ​​and Formula One governing bodies. This makes Ferrari a strategic supplier to up-and-coming teams, in addition to its own works team and the United States’ Haas F1.

General Motors (GM) also registered with the FIA ​​as a full-fledged power unit manufacturer at the end of the decade, demonstrating their long-term commitment to Formula One.

This collaboration comes at the same time as Sauber’s transformation into an Audi factory team in 2026, marking the beginning of a new era in Formula One engine technology. This era brings a focus on energy sustainability and technological efficiency in the sport.

The Cadillac F1 Team, in collaboration with GM, has secured an agreement in principle to become the 11th team in the Formula One championship. According to reports, GM and its partner, TWG Global, will pay an anti-dilution fee of US$ 450 million which will be divided among the 10 existing teams.

Mario Andretti, the last Formula One world champion from the United States in 1978, will serve as board director of the Cadillac F1 team.
